The Silk Road – Frances Wood

Bound in maroon calfskin. Central panel has been inlaid with vellum, which has been tooled with gold lines depicting the Marco Polo crossing as seen in the Catalan Atlas of 1375.
The inlay has been framed with black goatskin, which has been extended around raised squares at the corners of the boards.
Hand sewn endbands in pink, black and cream.
The text block has gilt gold edges.
Endpapers comprise handmade papers toned to match the covering calfskin.
Housed in a black and maroon drop back box, in tray style. Box has been lined with velvet material. Box titled on spine on a leather label, in same colour a binding material.
