The square shape of the book lends itself beautifully to the inlaid design that covers both the front and rear boards.
The black goatskin binding has been inlaid with a chess board design comprising squares of wood and vellum with a wood border. The spine has been lettered vertically in gold.
This has been complimented by gilt edges to the leaves and a hand sewn pair of headbands.
The endpapers are comprise wood inlaid handmade Japanese paper, with the paste-downs having the addition of an inlaid wood border.
The book has then been housed in a 1/4 leather box, in the tray box style. The edges of the leather have been finished with further strips of wood. The box has been lined with felt. The title on the spine of the box is lettered in black on a square of vellum, with a wood border.
