History

Established in 1981 by Tom Valentine, Tom Valentine Limited  has been providing a wide range of high quality bookbinding and conservation services to an even wider range of customers. From the individual wanting to preserve a family heirloom, to large organisations and archives requiring their complete collections conserved, each book is treated with the same care and attention.

Initially located within central Falkirk, it was as a result of rapidly increasing demand for its services that the business moved the short distance to Larbert, where, in 1989,  Carronvale Bindery was born.

Taking up residence in what was originally a converted barn, the business continued to grow and 5 years later the building was extended to  where it became home for both the hand bindery and the conservation unit. It was at this time that Louis Valentine joined the family business.

In 2005, the business acquired the farm cottage which was to become not only home to the administration offices but was also the location for the Bindery Shop that was “Valentines at Carronvale Bindery”. “Valentines” was established in 2010 to sell our unique collection of handmade leather journals and photograph albums.

At the beginning of 2011, it was decided to bring all the resources of the bindery under one roof and the difficult decision was made to relocate the bindery.

At the beginning of April 2011 this move was completed and the bindery has now found its third home in its 30 year history.
